We are so aware that Christmas can be a considerable challenge for many families, and with the increase in financial pressures recently, it is especially difficult for those on low income. As a church, we would love to make a difference for those in need in our community. So, we are launching a project called Joy of Christmas that we can all get involved in.

Every year our Compassion ministry prepares around 200 food parcels to give out to families in our community impacting around 600 individuals. In the last number of years, we have also given out a load of new toys to these families, allowing them to come in and choose the ones they want for their children.

This year we want to expand the toy give away to help every client in food bank but also to include families in TLC who are most in need.
You can get involved in 4 ways:

  • Purchase some toys in the next few weeks and then bring them to church on Sunday 28th November. You don’t need to wrap them, just come and add them to the collection area in the auditorium. You get to choose the age range you want to buy for and whether for girls or boys.
  • Nominate a family by sending a short e-mail to [email protected] and we will let you know when they can come in and choose toys in a discreet way.
  • Go to a local Newtownards butcher and buy meat vouchers of any value which you can bring on Sunday 28th November, we believe a meat voucher will make a significant difference to our clients and families too.
  • Sign up to one of our evening packing teams in December operating from the 6th -9th and 13th - 16th of December (8 evenings in total). Or sign up to help during the day on those same dates with dating and stacking the food in the warehouse.

To sign up to help with one of our packing or stacking teams, please click on the link below and register yourself to one of those dates.

We're excited to see how God is going to use our Joy of Christmas project this year to make an impact to families all over Newtownards and the surrounding area!
